Vicky Heller says:
The plan is to CUT SPENDING.
A) Beg your mother for money to meet your child's demands?
B) Borrow money that you cannot repay to meet your child's demands?
C) Explain to your child that the answer is NO, at least for now.
Governor Pawlenty and Peter Bell have chosen option C.
I reply:
You're analogy is definitely incorrect. What Pawlenty and Bell have done,
according to your analogy, is say the following:
"I realize that you need more money, but now that you mention it, you're
going to have to pay me back part of what I'm giving you."
Of course, to continue the analogy, a child might do something like hold
her breath until she turns blue. In that case, you would welcome it--if she
passes out, she can't spend any money--so you don't have to give her any at
all!
