Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak named four finalists today for the position
of Civil Rights Director: Harry W. Davis, Jr.; Jessica Lynn Jackson;
Jayne Baccus Khalifa; and W.H. Tyrone Terrill.
"These finalists were selected based on the criteria we've developed,
and I'm looking forward to hearing the advice of the Advisory
Committee," Mayor Rybak said.
Rybak's Citizen Advisory Committee will interview the four finalists
next weekend. The 20-member committee met in March to consider criteria
for the position, on which both the Committee's interviews and the
Mayor's selection will be based. Mayor Rybak will conduct individual
interviews with candidates prior to nominating his selection to the
Executive Committee. From there, the nomination will go to the Health
and Human Services Committee and then to the City Council. KP
Recruiting, an executive search firm, is managing the search for the
City.
The Civil Rights Department provides leadership and education in the
area of civil rights and enforces the City's Civil Rights Ordinance in
an effort to end discrimination in Minneapolis. The director will
oversee all operational and financial functions of the department,
including managing a staff of 25 and an operating budget of almost $2
million. Additional information about the department and the director
position is available at http://citytalk/news/20040304CivilRights.asp.
