[Mpls] Tobacco Scam

I read the post that said that "Secondhand smoke kills tens of thousands
of nonsmokers each year in the U.S" and did some research to find if
that number was true or just a lie. Public health information said that
the number was "maybe 3,000." So, of 285,000,000 inhabitants there are
"maybe 3,000" incidents of non smoker lung cancer. This is an estimate
and you can look it up at National Cancer Institute at
http://cis.nci.nih.gov/fact/3_9.htm. I chose this web site because it is
strongly biased to promote smoking bans. It will be helpful if the
proponents of the smoking ban stop using incorrect data and start saying
that there is a .0000105% incidence of cancer caused by primary second
hand smoke. That is one ten thousandth of one percent. So of ten
thousand people, there is a one percent chance. Rank this up there with
lightening strikes, shark attacks and death by bee stings.
As I stated in an earlier post, this is an issue that must be
considered on accurate data. By lying about the facts, proponents of the
ban hurt their claim as people largely ignore them because of their
unreliability. A smoking ban does very little and will have a negative
effect on the city, so it must be considered carefully. So far, the
effort to achieve a ban seems to be a show of force by radicals. I hope
the good thinkers prevail.
