[Mpls] Fw: Tobacco

Hey folks,

I have been following this debate with some interest. I am a
non-smoker who goes to bars -- as our list manager will attest. I would
prefer spoke-free bars for myself and the health of the bar employees,
but I am also sympathetic to the bar owners who are worried that
business will go down, although I'm not sure if their businesses will
actually suffer.

How about this for an idea: let's try it out. We can make the
bars smoke-free for a year or maybe two. (After all, we've had smoke in
bars for years.) If the bar owners are right and their businesses
suffer, then we can repeal the ban. We can even put a sunset provision
on the ban so that the issue has to be revisited.

night -- strictly for research purposes, of course.
