Barb Lickness makes some valid points about PRT.
I would urge you NOT to make any resolutions supporting
PRT.
I am disturbed that Dean's suggested resolution is disingenuous
in claiming that the Taxi 2000/Skyweb system "produces zeros (sic)
emissions in operation." In fact, the system runs on electricity, and
therefore will produce emissions (until we have have an electrical grid
run totally with solar and wind power.)
Likewise, the statement that this system "takes up virtually no
footprint" is bogus--unless you think that a guide rail sixteen feet
above the grade supported by two foot wide posts doesn't constitute
footprint.
This is not to mention the unproven assertion that this system
would require "no yearly subsidy from taxpayers."
I DO suggest that you make resolutions supporting transit (just not PRT.
The first four whereas clauses in Dean's resolution are a good place to start
in crafting your pro-transit resolutions. . . .
Likewise, I think many resolutions against expenditures on auto-based
infrastructure are in order. Perhaps you could make a resolution AGAINST
PRT as well
If you are curious about alternative views about PRT, I suggest you
