[Mpls] Bus Strike - Stranded in Minneapolis

I ride the bus every day to and from work in downtown Minneapolis.    I don't own
a car but have been able to get rides from co-workers or family.  

On day one and day two of the bus strike I was driving a mini-van I borrowed
from someone in my family who was out of town.

On Thursday I called the Commuter Connection in the Pillsbury Center in Minneapolis 
to offer a ride to someone who might need one and as luck would have it
the moment I called a person walked in who needed a ride home.

On Friday I called the Commuter Connection again to offer a ride to someone
stranded and was told to register with the Metro Commuter services database   
at http://www.metrocommuterservices.org/.    Apparently they were no longer
willing to connect "walk-ins" to those offering irdes.

They seemed unconcerned or unwilling to provide service to the people
who don't have computers or family or co-workers who can offer a ride 
each day - each way to work, school or shopping.  

Neither agency seemed interested in connecting people willing to offer a ride
to someone who might not have any alternative other than to take one from a
stranger willing to help.

Perhaps these agencies would say that they are not staffed to do "crisis" or
one time ridematching for "those people."
  
Perhaps they just don't want to get involved or assume the role 
of a social service agency that provides help to those who need it the most.

So is there anyone out there who IS helping "those people"?
