Actually, Dyna, the request for a quorum call was made BEFORE Dennis
Schapiro asked to withdraw.

The counting for the quorum call was actually being done when he
spoke. Since the quorum was not met, the convention had to adjourn at that
time without proceeding on any other business. Including business like
accepting a candidate's request to withdraw, or endorsing by acclamation
another candidate.

While I'm disappointed that the DFL did not endorse 3 candidates, that's
what the delegates chose to do. These 2 candidates were between 3-7% apart
all day, and it seemed unlikely that either of them would ever have reached
the 60% needed for endorsement. An endorsement by acclamation when most of
the delegates had gone home would not have carried much weight, really.

I am actually surprised that 5 hours after convening, we still had 48% of
the delegates there, on such a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
