I too voted at Tuttle School. I left work at 3:30 and took a bus past De
LaSalle High School and noticed a line out the door and around the block.

With some trepidation, I approached Tuttle School at about 3:45. SE Como
isn't usually busy, but with the number of college students there is sometimes
a line.

There was no line whatsover and only one other person voting. At that time
there'd been about 750 votes (which fits with Emile's post stating a total of
about 1000 near closing time).

Not a bad turnout.

The surprising thing in the results, though, was that Amanda Hutchings - The
Republican candidate for State Rep in 59B - got 20 pct of the vote. Near as I
could tell, she didn't even campaign. Every election guide I saw had a note
under her name saying "did not respond". This is clear evidence that people
voting in National elections just vote the party line if they've not paid
attention to their local races.

Hutchings outpolled both Becki Smith (Green) and Ron Lischeid (Independence)
who both ran more visible campaigns. Smith had signs and door knocked
extensively. Lischeid had lots of signs, but I know nothing else.

Phyllis Kahn, of course, won - with 59%. I believe a somewhat lower total
than normal for her.
