It's unlikely that any first offender would do time for simple 
possession.  However, this case does raise questions about the 
ethics  of someone who would imprison people for one type of crime
and then (possibly) violate the law in other ways. It is also a
good illustration of the idiocy and hypocrisy of this country's
drug laws.
