Just want to correct a little urban myth I see springing up. The County
Board met in committee yesterday - the final vote among the full Board
is, and was, next Tuesday. That verdict is not delayed.
What really happened yesterday is that the Board committee
(Intergovernmental Relations) "progressed" the ballpark resolution -
that means they passed it to the full board for action. It's true that
the committee did not take a yes/no vote, but the effect was the
same...passing it to the full Board for the regularly scheduled Tuesday
vote.
It's fair to say an initial vote was delayed from the committee level
to the full board level, but a little misleading to say the vote that
counts was delayed. In other words, if you're an opponent, don't be too
heartened by this.
(Not criticizing Eva here - I think Strib's original Web story gave
this impression. And it's always good to contact your elected
representatives!)
