Well I don't find it so funny and think it is a great
idea and apparently so do many serious entrepeneurs.
Take a look at the "Tango" going into production at
http://www.commutercars.com/ The Top performance
Tango can go zero to seventy in less than four
seconds. Or take a look at the good old Corbin
Sparrow which has just been resurrected by Myer motors
of Ohio http://www.sparrowelectriccars.com/
Narrower more efficient zero emissions cars are
becoming affordable to most everyone as they move to
mass production. You can pickup a used Sparrow for
$9,000 or less though the originals are increasingly
scarce causing them to go as high as $26,000 in some
parts of the country. The newer version has several
improvements and is heading into mass production. You
can view those upgrades at
http://www.hightechscience.org/sparrow_modifications.htm
I think that one thing the city could do to encourage
electric vehicle use is to provide plug ins at
designated parking spaces. Such programs have been
highly successful in encouraging use of zero emission
electric in Portland.
