More funding ideas for the library!

>From the most recent edition of Public Libraries magazine, in an article by Stephanie K. Gerding - "Innovative Fundraising Opportunities for Your Library":

1) A "Donate Now" button for the Library website
2) www.shopforthelibrary.net is an online shopping mall designed to help libraries raise money - up to 25% of the purchase price of any item
3) "Libraries Matter" bracelets that raise money for libraries, similar to the idea launched by Lance Armstrong to raise $ for cancer research
4) Booktastic - (www.booktasticgame.com) a new game that can be sold to raise $ for libraries- developed by the president of the Prince William County Library Foundation, with a children's version soon to come

In regard to the "Borrow a Bias" program,

Although I do not like the normal usage of the term "minorities", because in fact, peoples of color, Indigenous First Nations and women by far constitute the world's majority, I would say that creative, paradigm-shifting strategies to combat bias, oppression and exploitation are to be welcomed and catalyzed. Library staff are an amazing resource for fabulous ideas programs!
