[Mpls] Minnesota Twins in Mpls.- Take the wheels off

Sorry for two posts on the same subject, but I had to respond to the
post below. People are kidding themselves if they point to the Green
Bay Packer ownership situation as proof that community ownership would
work for the Twins. The economic structure of professional football
and professional baseball is so vastly different it's not even funny.
Plus the GBP situation is over 80 years old. I would love to see what
would happen if another NFL team tried to organize itself in the Green
Bay model.

Also the threat to challenge the MLB's anti-trust exemption is a bunch
of smoke. Baseball would laugh at the attempt and would love the
challenge in order to make the exemption even more permanent in the
eyes of the law. No Judge Crumpts would bail out the Twins in that
case.

> Folks it is not rocket science. A second rate city within a much
larger sphere of "influence" (Chicago) has already shown how
successful such a model could be. The Greenbushers should not even be
able to field a semi-pro team, yet they have probably the most
successful pro football team in America. (It's like St. Cloud having
their own professional baseball team that is more successful than the
Twins!) Why? Because the people own the damn team. And believe me
(and a couple of million crazy beer drinking Wisconsin people) it's
not going anywhere! It is also sold out for the next
> several lifetimes. Why? Because there is the real feeling that the
people OWN the team!
