I also want to comment on the Klodt project. I find the project densities as positive.
The property that is being replaced is a dilapidated industrial building that is very much
an eyesore. Development along the Light Rail Corridor is a major positive improvement
for the Longfellow Community and the city of Minneapolis. As a resident of the larger
Longfellow community, I see the area along Hiawatha as a great opportunity to
improve our community.

I am concerned that all projects coming forth along the corridor will receive the same
resistance. I am not sure what the neighbors want. Some do want lower density.
I do not think an area adjacent to 8-10 story mills should be town homes, single
family or low density apartment buildings. I do hope the differences on design
can be worked out rather than being the source of more controversies.

We also should drop the innuendo about campaign donations. This only divides the
community. I think it is too bad this development came up in an election campaign.
The Klodt development on East 46th Street (which came up more than a year ago) was able to pass neighborhood support.

We need to cooperate as neighbors and elected officials to make the best of
this opportunity to provide a new look for our community.
