Robert Jenson wrote an excellent article entitled "How Big Money Eviscerates

Democracy and is about empowering "we the people" while corrupt crony 
capitalism is about the concentration of money and power.  Democracy is only 
possible with "economic democracy."  Local politics is as corporatist as 
state or federal politics.

Divorce campaigns from money and go to IRV and democracy might come to life 
again.
