WizardMarks: Fancy fundraisers are needed to complete the [library]
project. That's where the captains of industry get a chance to shine and
flash money and pay some of the freight on this venture. I hope you didn't
think they [Walker and Carnegie] would keep that up forever.
Vicky Heller: Actually the captains of industry and other American heroes,
specifically small businesspersons, pay the lion's share of the PUBLIC costs
too. Minneapolis needs more of them.
Rather than drive them out of town, why not thank them once in a while? Why
not let business people know that they are welcome in Minneapolis? How else
will the City shake off its "Paris Commune" reputation? Minneapolis had
better roll out the red carpet toward economic vitality pretty soon - you've
got competition in better climates with lower tax burdens!
Were it not for the rich [yet undefined], there would be a pretty paltry tax
base in the shrinking Minneapple.
Wise up before it's too late.

Liberty quote for today....
"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer.
You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative
and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could
and should do for themselves."
-- William Boetcker,(1873-1962) German-born Presbyterian clergyman
