Just a quick note to clear up any potential confusion about my last post.
Although I would have loved to have written the quoted portion, it was not
written by me. Local journalist (and novelist) Jennifer Vogel wrote the
piece in The Rake, as well as the portion I excerpted.
Not one to tread on writers' toes or fingers,

. If people want to gripe about
poor decision-making, they should point the finger at the geniuses who moved
the main library out of its original location on Tenth and Hennepin, a
castle-like structure that strongly resembled the Lumber Exchange Building.
They plunked it down in a 1960s-era box that was difficult to expand or
update and constructed in such a way as to hold together for only forty
years." Gregory Luce
YES! The first time anyone has commented on ....why did they move the
library to begin with? The old library was beautiful....the floors were
unbelievable. The only reason I can come up with is they were cleaning up
the Gateway area and needed something to build...no one wanted them to
build at that time so it was done as cheap as possible. Such a mistake!
