The Center for Urban and Regional Affairs at the University of Minnesota is
sponsoring a conference for people involved in Minneapolis Neighborhood
Organizations
MINNEAPOLIS NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS AND CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
Questions and discussions about the role of neighborhood organizations in
citizen participation have taken on new importance. Several reports
dealing with neighborhood groups and citizen participation are circulating
in city hall. Community Planning and Economic Development has proposed
changes to the contractual relationship between neighborhood groups and
city government and how citizen participation is carried out.
Neighborhood organizations need to be fully involved in these discussions.
This conference will give people active in neighborhood groups the
opportunity to be part of the debate and talk with each other about how they
do citizen participation, the future of citizen participation, and how
neighborhood groups and the city work together.
These topics will be covered at the conference:
Minneapolis Neighborhood Groups Doing Citizen Participation 5:30
* What Is Citizen Participation?
* What Citizen Participation Responsibilities Do Neighborhoods do Well?
* With What Citizen Participation Responsibilities Should Neighborhood
