That goes both ways, though.
When you have Michelle Bachmann and her ilk grinding last year's Legislative
session to a complete halt and preventing a bonding bill from being passed
because nobody wants to deal with her constitutional ban against gay
marriage BS, that's the fault of the state Republican party leaders who fail
to keep her in line.
And then when you have public school funding frozen and have the audacity to
claim that schools have been "held harmless" even though they still have
increases in health care premiums and other costs that they cannot ignore as
easily as the governor and state Legislature choose to ignore inflation,
that's the Republicans' fault.
So maybe part of the reason it's a curse to be a Republican in this city is
because the leaders of the state Republican party invite it? Is it possible
that we see what they're doing just across the river and think to ourselves
"why would we want to deal that here?" when Republicans run for office in
Minneapolis?
