According to this city report
(http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/financial-reports/cafr2002/MDA4.pdf -
see page 9) the proceeds were booked in 2002.
Therefore, it wasn't "last year" and Tim Pawlenty wasn't governor (he
was inaugurated in January 2003) as the original post claimed.
Dialing way back to the beginning of this, I stand by my (and the
Journal's) original assertion that Mpls is a net tax contributor to the
state - we pay more than we get back. I also stand by the earlier post
that the state's paid nothing for the new Convention Center until this
contribution, and even then, its 20 percent overall support is low by
Minnesota and U.S. standards.
Now its time to go find misinformation spread by government - rather
than citizens!
