Lets put this rumor that Stonewall DFL has been spreading to
rest once and for all. This dispute is about principals, not
personalities. I came to that board meeting with no interest in
running for reelection. In fact, I have never really run for a seat
on the Stonewall DFL board. Rather, like many queer DFL activists, I
have stepped forward to serve on the board when needed and stepped
aside to make room for the younger activists when I wasn't needed.

Now the DFL party has high principals, but sadly Stonewall
DFL has abandoned some of those principals. A couple of those
principals are inclusion and gender equity. The DFL is so committed
to inclusion that we recently expanded our executive board
membership, and to cut the board membership in half like Stonewall
DFL did is unthinkable to the DFL. The DFL also insists on gender
equity, requiring good faith efforts to insure that no gender fills
more than a simple majority of any DFL body, from precinct caucus to
the Democratic National Committee. Stonewall again flouted those high
DFL principals when it passed over 3 qualified women, all former
board members, when they stacked their board with 10 men and but 3
women. I was one of the women asked to run to give the board gender
balance, and would have been happy to see the seat I sought go to a
younger woman activist.

This is pretty much moot, given that if I were currently a
Stonewall DFL board member I would probably be tendering my
resignation rather than blindly support the receiptients of Stonewall
DFL's questionable endorsements. I have no plan to run for any of the
open board seats at the annual meeting and may not even bother to
attend, Stonewall DFL's credibility having sunk to such lows as to
make them pretty much irrellivent.

	uncommitted in Hawthorne,
