Unfortunately this just confirms that the precinct caucus system is a joke. The DFL should have allowed us to organize on a Ward basis, which would have been more inclusive and more newsworthy (also that was the intent of the "Brauer Amendment"). As I have posted before, the prencinct caucus system is elitist and discourages participation. Others have argued that it favors underfunded candidates as they only have to campaign over a small group of identified delegates and alternates. Besides being shortsited, the fact that there has been a number of well attended ward debates and candidate forums prior to the prencinct caucuses has allowed any and all candidates to get their face out in front of likely convention attendees.
