Hello List,
If the organizing my eighteen year old daughter and her friends are=20
doing is any indication then I suspect the caucuses will be peopled by=20=
more than the grizzled old vets Dean wrote about below.
It seems to me we're getting exactly what Brauer and I hoped for when=20
we pushed for same year caucuses at our last City Convention =96 a =
really=20
good debate that starts in the 'hood and let's folks talk about LOCAL=20
issues.
Imagine if our candidates only had to canvas folks elected last year to=20=
support John Kerry, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich & the rest. We=20
wouldn't see debates at Washburn or Cabrini. I wouldn't be getting=20
calls from three different Council candidates to remind me of the=20
caucus. Park Board candidates would not be organizing get out the=20
supporter activities. All the activity would be like four years ago =96=20=
at meetings full of grizzled old DFL veterans ( I won't call any of=20
them hacks.)
This is fun, enlightening, engaging and uplifting.
I've said it here before: I have the utmost respect for anyone who puts=20=
their name forward as a candidate for public office. Thank you to all=20
of you who are doing so this year. Tonight is where all your organizing=20=
reaches its first milestone.
Good luck.
