[Mpls] RE: Caucuses

I used to be somewhat active in the DFL up until the mid 1980s. I was on my
District Central Committee and attended a lot of meetings.

Then one day we got a note from "higher ups" that we had made a major
mistake in our election of delegates and alternates to a County Convention
of some sort. We had elected too many women.

This was shortly after a District Convention, when, during the candidate
questioning period, a question was phrased "What is your position on ______
and how radical are you?"

That was the last DFL meeting that I attended.

It is interesting to note that since the "quota" system was instituted, I
don't believe that a DFLer has won a state-wide race that was not already an
incumbent.

Anybody who isn't the product of the caucus system can't get an endorsement.
Yet the caucus system keeps producing "more of the same." And "more of the
same" can't win elections any more.
