What an intriguing thought Dennis.
Dennis says to Mr. Brady, "> Currently, there simply is not an adequate
number of police resources to
> stabilize the situation and do what you propose. Unless of course you are
> suggesting that the "neighbors" all start packing weapons and making
> citizens arrests.
I did not get it at first from Mr. Brady's post, but when I went back and
re-read it after having it pointed out by Dennis it was clear what the
implications might be. You are correct Dennis, Mr. Brady seems to suggest
that the neighbors take back the neighborhood themselves. I am not sure a
group of armed men would be allowed to "take back there neighborhood". It
would simply hurt the police machismo, and further hurt police community
relations, as well as make the Mayor look bad. But what about the women????
>From your examples it appears that just as throughout history, women and
children bear the brunt of any fall out from Politicians making bad
decisions or simply not doing their duty. So why not have "Permit to Carry"
instructors from State-wide come together and teach a week-end class on
firearms, and then the City of Minneapolis issue a permit to carry and a
pistol to any woman fearing for the safety of her self and family and
willing to do the training. Then provide City Insurance and lawyers to
defend them if they get sued for defending their homes and families. Lastly
issue each woman doing the training a Minneapolis owned handgun. I will bet
that 500 mad mother packing pistols will clean up that dirty little 2 square
miles in a hurry!
Sounds rather extreme to me, but heck, if the Mayor and the Council are not
going to provide for public safety then they should at least help those
women and mothers protect themselves and their children. It would only cost
$100,000, so the Mayor and the tax payers from "Better Neighborhoods" should
be happy! If the CM's and the Mayor are not going to protect the families in
impacted neighborhoods because of their priorities then they should at least
allow the mothers to do so. It might not get rid of all the drug dealers,
but it will dramatically do away with women and their children being
threatened and beaten up by cowardly punks.
