[Mpls] Park Board meetings

As always, I deeply appreciate the time and commitment offered by Elizabeth Wielinski, Scott Vreeland and others who attend Park Board meetings and report on them. If I sat there, I wonder if I might have a seizure or otherwise run screaming from the room.

I saw part of a replay of the 10/26 meeting on public access TV this weekend, and again found the dysfunction nothing short of breathtaking.

I'll never get past the lack of formal minute-taking. Beyond that, the leadership blithely dismissed individual board member's requests/suggestions (e.g. Commissioner Young's request to extend the meeting time), the board did not have sufficient detail or prep time to understand the budget they were looking at, there is no adherence to any sort of formal process for making and amending motions on which to vote........

Church councils and American Legion clubs have better organized meetings. Those groups aren't charged with the stewardship of a precious public asset (or spending a lot of tax dollars in the process).

It's sometimes tough to persuade me that 'different' is necessarily better, but in this case, I'm convinced the house needs to be cleaned.

Vote for the Park Watch candidates on November 8th.

Hoping for a well-organized day in Prospect Park
