[Mpls] Hooters to Block E?

I was hoping and praying that the council's decision on this matter was
because downtown could use the business...... a business that actually
wanted to be there. I want to think that the council actually came to their
senses and realized that turning away business, solely because people like
NJL think it's not classy enough, is not the right way to revitalize
downtown. But, in the end, our city council was willing to turn away
business simply because they didn't like the way the waitresses were
dressed. Sometimes I have to ask myself if adults really run this city.
Seriously. As usual, tax revenue and jobs (but probably not "livable wage"
jobs) take a back seat to some amorphous but lofty principle involving
clothing and ambiance.

Nevertheless, in reading the story, it appears that Hooters is being
"allowed" in because the city realized "there's not much we can do about it"
(ostensibly legally--"it" being keeping Hooters out). Common sense won out
by default, not because being pro-business (regardless of what the wait
staff might be wearing) is good policy for the city. At this point, even
accidental victories are worth something.
