Jose Velez
Aide
Council Member Samuels' office states:

After hanging up the phone, Council Member Samuels called the Chief of
Police and the Precinct Inspector to verbally inform them of what he had
been told by the constituent.

It is Council Member Samuels' responsibility, as a public official, to
pass on complaints of this manner. He has followed this protocol for
every single similar complaint that has made to his office since his
term began. He did not, as Michele ERRONEOUSLY STATES, file a report
with Internal Affairs. The constituent did this, on her own, in advance
of calling the Council office.

Michelle Hill responds:

Thanks for the quick response. I asked if there was any truth to the two
version I heard and your email clarified at least some portions of my inquiry to
be true. Here is what I said in my post last:

"On another note....I went to Sabathani, in south Minneapolis, to sign up for
a ceramics class, there was discussion that CP. Don Samuels filed a complaint
of brutality against two black officers in North Minneapolis, alleging that
they use excessive force against two drug/gang members in North Minneapolis."

"One of the women said the store owner, a friend of hers, told Internal
Affairs to get away from his store because the "accused officers" did nothing
wrong. I did talk to one of the beat officers in my area, and he confirmed that CP.
Samuels did make a complaint, but he was told that the complaint went to the
Chief and the Mayor and that they initiated the Internal Affairs case."

Actually, there was no error in my post. The beat officer was correct, unless
you are saying the mayor had no involvement. Also the woman at my ceramics
class was correct when she said Internal Affairs was involved in the complaint.
If I do not ask, I cannot confirm. I cannot find what portion was ERRONEOUS.

Here is a question: How does one get action so fast in Internal Affairs on a
complaint of excessive force against a Minneapolis Police Officer? Should we
all call our council person directly and will we get the same quick one day
service? As I said, I will be the first to defend a person when their civil
rights are in question, but I hope with this precedence, that all case will have
this quick turn around when we call our council person.
