Okay, Gary Hoover, here is another voice from the 13th ward in response to
your question as to whom people in the 13th Ward are supporting.

I am supporting Lisa McDonald for a number of reasons. First of all, she is
experienced as a Council Member and I think we need that. I worked for the
City Council for 10 years and can tell you that some newly elected Council
Members literally took years (sometimes never) to become effective. Lisa is a
known commodity in that area and it is a value.

Second, Lisa is an independent Democrat, (not a toe the Democratic line when
it is wrong,) but a person who understands the underlying principles of the
Democratic party and will vote for practical government that helps those less
fortunate while seeing to it that tax money is wisely spent.

Third, she is right there as far as support of environmental issues - rain
gardens, better transit, holding the Metropolitan Airports Commission to its
promise to insulate homes out to the 60 DNL line, dog parks, etc., etc.

She is knowledgeable about that pesky zoning issue, which many people never
do understand, and will work to make the City of Minneapolis a cohesive whole
rather than a hodge podge of projects.

I guess it really does come back to that all important bedrock - she knows
how and will work to make government efficient, caring, practical, and
affordable. Each specific issue ultimately comes back to those criteria and I trust
Lisa to do that better than her opponent.
