Now, Jane, you know this is a false statement. It was
covered in detail on this very list months ago.
The Schiff campaign did NOT file any charges against anybody. They
reported the vandalism to the police, which is the proper response to
a crime. They specifically declined to identify anybody as a suspect
in this crime. Gary Schiff personally, in TV interviews, refused to
point fingers at any of the other campaigns. This despite several
attempts by the reporter to prompt him into doing so. (Part of TV's
endless effort to reduce political reporting to mud-slinging personal
battles -- so much easier than actually doing some reporting on
issues, I presume.)
And besides, under our legal system, only the City Attorney can file
charges, not a political campaign.
It doesn't help reduce smear to repeat once again charges that have
already been exposed as false.
