Here are my comments/questions regarding the above paragraph, Mr. Mayor
Candidate:
1. Please define "completely non essential jobs" and explain how you, as
mayor, would eliminate said jobs. That IS what you're proposing, right?
2. Are you proposing MANDATED shorter work weeks..... as in, the government
says work weeks must be shorter? Please tell me you're not proposing that.
3. The Europeans may enjoy shorter workweeks...... what choice do they have?
Their form of socialism mandates, by force of law, how many hours and weeks
a year an employee may work. Probably not the best idea here. Besides, have
you seen what the unemployment rate is in many European countries?
4. Now, I'm no economist, but it just doesn't make any logical sense that
eliminating jobs, having shorter work weeks and mandated vacations will
actually create MORE jobs. Maybe I'm slow, but can you explain how this will
work, exactly?
Don't put words in my mouth. Of course I can't eliminate jobs and I never
proposed anything of the kind.
In the US we actually have too many people working at completely unnecessary
jobs. Most Europeans that I know of, have complete freedom to work as little
or as much as they want to, just as they do in this country. Where is it
"mandated"? All European countries are capitalist. I'm a capitalist (if you
consider a small retailer with very limited capital a capitalist), a small
business person. I believe in most small businesses. In Europe they have universal
health care which is infinitely more efficient and less costly than our
health care "system". Is that why you call them socialist? Multi national
corporate capitalism is much more destructive and enslaving than democratic
socialism. They have a more progressive income tax which makes sense. Should the
people that burn up excessive amounts of the earth's diminishing resources and
pour excessive toxins into the air and water pay nothing extra? Should it b
allowed at all would b a better question.
Here are a few examples of what I consider "non essential jobs". These jobs
are not only non essential, they create waste, unnecessary pollution,
cancer, greenhouse gases, resource shortages and inflation. Tell me they don't.
Cosmetics manufacturing and sales. Cosmetics all end up in the drink, then
in the fish. Then you eat it and drink it. Fireworks manufacturing and
sales. The cancerous filth that ends up in the air from this completely
destructive and unnecessary industry is unbelievable; cadmium, lead, sulphur dioxide,
nitrous oxide, carbon monoxide, benzene, arsenic, etc. etc. Cancer is now our
leading cause of death and the rate is accelerating. How about hand gun
manufacturing and sales when we already have about four handguns for every man,
woman and child? How about obscenely inefficient, destructive oversized
vehicles? How about the land mines we export to the world that blow off the limbs of
innocent children? How about the so called "defense industry"? What are we
going to do with ten thousand nuclear weapons all cocked and ready to go. But
go where? If a single one is used it will be the end of life on earth as we
know it. You may think those are necessary to protect America? You asked
about psychologists. As far as Psychologists go, I would say some are necessary
and some are not. As for mayors some would say they're necessary and some
would say they're not. That's a long debate about anarchy I don't want to get
into. There are bad kinds of anarchy and good kinds. I don't think Americans
are ready for either right now.
I could list a thousand more occupations but I'm hoping you are starting to
get the picture. Again, I'm not running for dictator and a mayor can't
eliminate jobs, so don't worry.
A mayor should, however be a leader, have ideas, opinions, be able to
inspire, be creative and revolutionary. A mayor should tell it like it is and not
try to please everyone if that's what it takes to get America on the path of
prudence, life, love and enlightenment and off of the path of waste,
destruction, decay and death.
I'm certain I couldn't accomplish this by myself and I'm convinced my
opponents couldn't either. It will take a city.
Just a few thoughts from Kingfield
