I am a resident of the 5th ward. Natalie Johnson Lee represents me. It is
an embarrassment to me to be represented by someone who can't distance
themselves from Bob Battle. When I raised this issue with Natalie at
Juneteenth, she started yelling at me. I understand that Natalie has
difficulty keeping her temper when people have differences with
her. Natalie claimed she sent me an email that addressed the issue. If
she did, I either didn't receive it - or I missed it. (I do get alot of
email on this particular email account, so I do miss some emails from time
to time.)

>As far as whether 5th Ward residents have raised this issue with Natalie

Well when I first called her about this issue last December she told me she
wasn't aware of the article by Battle. I read her the quote - and told her
I'd send her a copy of the article - which I did.

>What I do know, however, is that Natalie Johnson Lee has absolutely no
>obligation to provide fodder for or respond to the Lloydletta's Nooz blog or
>the Minneapolis Issues Forum, whether Eva Young or others are able to accept
>that or not.

Natalie can do as she pleases. She does have the obligation to respond as
a council member when I call her office. (Which has been rarely - I think
I've contacted her office 3 times over the 4 year term. I personally think
what's more interesting than Natalie's position is how the Greens rather
than allowing Natalie or her campaign to directly defend herself, are going
after me for raising the question.)

If the candidate LCR/MN endorsed, Don Bellfield was quoted in an article by
Bob Battle, I would expect that LCR/MN would get jumped on for that
endorsement (deservedly so by the way).

I think it's really interesting that conservative and Republican candidates
are expected to be held accountable on these issues - but when liberal
candidates are involved, gays should just let them take a pass.

You can bet if one of the Gay city council members was quoted in an article
by a white supremacist, people would howl - and they should.

Speaking of the Natalie Johnson Lee, Don Samuels race - I got a copy of the
Trendsetter - Travis Lee's newspaper which claims that over 25,000 read the
paper. There's a cartoon on the back page about the race.

It's got Don Samuels vs Natalie Johnson Lee in a cage match. Samuels is
saying "I'll do anything to return to the Big House!" Natalie is saying
"Don, you can fool some of the people some of the time. A kid in the
audience is saying "Mama, why is Don running against Miss Natalie?" The
mother is saying "Because we can't have too many negros in city hall!"

Then on the balcony above the cage match the Redistricting Committee is
standing. Above that there's the label: DFL Machine.

I'd love to get a copy of this as an image. It's really a hoot.
