PRIMARY CANDIDATES FOR SENATE DISTRICT 28 LWV FORUM:  Republican Candidates
August 30, 2006


The League of Women Voters, Winona Unit is co-sponsoring a candidate forum
on August 30, 2006, with the American Association of University Women.  The
two Republican candidates have confirmed their intent to be present.

The LWV invites the public to participate in this forum.  Written questions
to the candidates will be generated from the audience in attendance.   The
primary candidate forum will be on Wednesday August 30, 2006 for the
District 28 Minnesota Legislative Senate seat.  The forum begins at 7:00 PM
in the council chambers of the Winona City Hall, 4th and Lafayette Streets
in Winona.    The forum will be broadcast live on public access cable TV
Channels for Charter and HBCI.  Radio and newspaper media are also invited
to attend.  During the televised forum, a telephone line to call in
questions will be available.

One more primary candidate forum is planned for the County 5th District
Commissioner and Sheriff candidates on September 6, 2006.  All candidates
for these races have also confirmed their intent to participate.

The League of Women Voters, Winona Unit, Women’s Resource Center of Winona,
the American Association of University Women, Winona Area PTA Council and
Winona On-Line Democracy encourage all voters to go and vote on the Primary
Election Day, September 12th, 2006.  Absentee ballot and or voter
registration information is available from the Winona County Auditors
Office, Winona County Government Center, and First Floor, at 177 Main
Street, Winona, MN.
