[Winona] Galewski's sand

What is this sand issue all about? In describing the pile, Jim Galewski implied that it could be a brewing major scandal, but he supplied no details. To my knowledge, the Winona Daily News did not report on it. I've heard that it concerned "wrong" sand that had to be replaced, but, not being an expert on sand in particular construction projects, I am not enlightened. Why should the pile be a scandal? For that matter, what is "wrong sand"? Sand coated with mud? Sand with human-eating worms? Sand containing missing Wilkie Committee members? Sand destined to contribute to a tropical sea motif at City Hall? Could Keith and/or Jim clarify the issue?

  Jim,

I had hoped that you would not have been one of those that bought into a "conspiracy theory." Your rantings(comments) in this mornings WDN inferring that MnDot, Hoffman Construction and almost every administrative position in the City of Winona are all lying about the quality of the sand on the Pelzer/Port projects is amazing. Why you have chosen not to believe the documentation, tests and word of anyone involved in the project is beyond me.

Jim, don't believe all the stories you hear at Shorty's West. All governments are not working for some unnamed secret society with ties to Rome and no "the sky is not falling."

  Keith Nelson
