[Winona] waste planning

We recently moved to a home in Homer and this is my first experience with a septic tank... We had it pumped out a while back and I asked the guy what he does with the 'stuff' . He said that he spreads it on farmer farms and that there is a high demand for it... It scares me to think about what people who are not sensitive to the environment are flushing down the toilet.

It didn't sit right with me but, I put it in the back of my mind until your e-mail brought it forward...

I apologize if this is a duplicate posting. Not sure I did it right the first time.

Itâ?Ts my understanding that individual septic systems build up sludge over time and need to be cleaned out to work properly. Does anyone know what happens to the sludge that is pumped out? Who regulates the private contractors?
