Hello Online Democracy Members
Given the good discussion on Global warming
online, you may care to join in a person to
person one next Monday night March 12th at the
Winona Middle School. Also, the world cafe
process might give us some ideas of how we might
use some of those discussion techniques in WOD.
Below is more information.. You can register on line or by calling in.
Call 507-457-6405 or email sustain at hbci.com.
It would help our planning to know by the end of day tomorrow..
Thanks Randy Schenkat
Global Warming is on everyone's front burner
locally these days. Jerry Miller, with the City
Council's blessing, has joined 400 other mayors
nationally in signing the Mayors Climate
Protection Agreement that calls on the city to
curb carbon emissions and promote sustainability.
The Frozen River Film Festival was chocked full
of films and presentations aimed at raising
environmental awareness. The Winona Daily News
recently opined-Global Warming Debate-enough
already; it's time to do something. Winona State
University recently signed on to the American
University and College Presidents Climate
Commitment Document, which commits the University
to assessing its climate footprint and then
taking steps to reduce it. WAPS February 2007
Inside Your Schools Superintendent's Message
says, "the ole orange and black is adding some
green".
Sustain Winona and WAPS Community Education
invite you to come together to start doing that
something. Next month we will host a World
Café on Global Warming so that you can discover
new people, ideas and action items focused on
what we can do can do today to minimize the
impact of global warming in the future.
A World Café is a unique process for
collaborative discussion and action. We will
meet at café tables, share coffee and snacks with
friends, neighbors and community members
interested in creating a more sustainable
community.
Our World Café on Global Warming will be held
Monday, March 12 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the
Winona Middle School Commons. The cost is free
but pre-registration is required by March 8th.
Call 507-457-6405 or email sustain at hbci.com. To
